Lamna is one of South Africa’s leading lenders against movable assets. We have over ten years of experience in asset-based lending.

Our loans are a straightforward alternative to bank loans, where red tape can make credit hard to access.

Our loans make it fast and easy to unlock the value of your truck, without having to selling it.

How a truck pawn loan works

To apply for a loan against a truck, send us some information about your truck such as the make, model, year and condition. We will then send you an initial loan offer.

After an in-person appraisal of your truck at one of our offices, we can finalise the offer, sign the agreement and send the funds directly to your account – usually within 24 hours.

We will securely store your truck for the duration of the loan until the outstanding amount and the interest – which is charged in line with NCR regulations – are repaid in full. Once the loan is repaid, your truck is returned to you. Your ownership of it is unaffected.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR LOANS AGAINST TRUCKS

A truck pawn loan uses the resale value of your truck as collateral on a short-term loan. This is why an asset loan doesn’t require credit checks or employment history.

We accept all major truck brands that are available in South Africa. If your truck is paid off, registered in your name and in good condition, you can use it to get an asset loan.

Trucks that are still financed or have money owed on them are not eligible. Only fully paid off trucks can be used to secure an asset-based loan.

No. Your truck secures the loan, so we need to take temporary custody of it until the loan is repaid. Once the loan is repaid, your truck is returned to you promptly and your ownership is unaffected.

Pawn and drive schemes that allow you to pawn a vehicle and still drive are highly dubious and have been referred to as “scams” by the NCR.

Your truck is stored in a secure facility with strict access control for the loan period. No one will drive your truck until it is returned to you.

Yes, all vehicles handed over as collateral are covered by insurance. However, you still need to have your own insurance for driving it to and from our offices.

Selling a truck isn’t quick and once it’s sold, your asset is gone. With pawning a truck, you can access the value of your truck without having to sell it. You can also use it for an asset loan more than once.

For a business, a truck asset loan may be a strategic way to unlock the value of a fleet, without disrupting core operations.

We can offer loans ranging from thousands to millions of rands.

Our loan offers are based on the market resale of the truck. The loan amount is a percentage of the resale value. Find out more here.
